Issue 2
Website & Social media

The FOOD-AWARE website was created by the Polish Farm Advisory and Training Centre not-for profit Sp. z o. o. and has been online since May 2019. The key elements of the website are already in place. The website describes the aim of the project and introduces the partner organisations and the project team. One of the most significant components is the training section, which will include training materials, teaching aids and educational videos that are currently being developed. People can also find a wide range of promotional materials, such as a flyer in 5 languages (English, French, German, Greek, Polish) and a poster. Currently, the website is available only in English, but at a later stage it will be translated into French, Greek and Polish.

You can check out the project's social media feed at the Facebook page, where you can get information about project news and events. There are also interesting articles about food waste and sustainability. Feel free to follow us on Facebook and stay tuned about new interesting posts!

Training methodology and training guide
The training methodology and training guide were developed by Doukas School and both focus on training professionals from the education sector (especially teachers and instructors, school principals, educational policy makers) on how to utilize FOOD-AWARE material for promoting considerate food consumption, food recycling, etc. to students. These materials are included in the Intellectual Output 1 which was finalised in July 2019.

The document attempts to:
  • highlight key underlying concepts of the Instructional Design process,
  • provide descriptions of the Instructional Design process and existing models, with a specific focus on the Instructional Design model aimed to be used in the context of the FOOD-AWARE project, and
  • analytically present all issues and decisions that directly relate to the preparation and delivery of the FOOD-AWARE teacher training.

The FOOD-AWARE's 2nd Transnational meeting was successfully held in Warsaw, Poland on 12-14 June 2019. Partners had fruitful discussions about the progress of the project and collaborated in the context of the intellectual outputs. One remarkable presentation was the process of comics production by the University of Dundee which impressed the project partners. The upcoming tasks and deadlines were set, while the next meeting is already scheduled for 5-6 December 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.

In this second meeting of the FOOD-AWARE project, partners had the opportunity to get to know each other better and build stronger working relationships, so as to provide the highest quality of the project outputs ensuring their consistency and that all partners are on the same page in terms of ultimate aims and objectives for each module and teaching aid.

Next steps
The future steps of the FOOD-AWARE Project include the development of the training materials which will support the teachers to engage their students with subjects around food and farming which are essential to every child's life and future. The draft version of the educational comics will be available to all partners by November 2019 and during the 3rd Transnational Meeting in Brussels the creators of the University of Dundee will receive comments and feedback to finalize them.
